Copyright policy

AnswerCanvas respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. If you believe material on AnswerCanvas infringes your copyright, please send a notice through the Contact Us page (DMCA option) with enough detail for review, consistent with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), 17 U.S.C. Section 512.

What a valid notice must include

  • Your full name and contact information, including a mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  • A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on the owner's behalf.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed, or, if multiple works are covered by a single notice, a representative list.
  • Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to permit us to locate it, such as the specific URL.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

Response to valid notices

Upon receipt of a notice that substantially complies with the requirements above, we will act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the identified material. We may also, in appropriate circumstances, disable or terminate access for users who are determined to be repeat infringers.

Counter-notices

If material you posted was removed or disabled and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a counter-notice containing: your physical or electronic signature; identification of the material removed and its location before removal; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification; your name, address, and telephone number; and a statement consenting to the jurisdiction of the applicable federal district court. Upon receipt of a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material within the timeframe required by the DMCA unless the original complainant files a court action seeking a restraining order.
